Young Researchers Workshop (YRW) 2026

Saturday, 30 August 2026 • From 09:00 to 15:00 • Clovis amphitheater

Coordinator : Prof. Jürg Gertsch, Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine, University of Bern, Switzerland, juerg.gertsch@unibe.ch

What is the aim of the workshop?

The Early Carrier Researchers’ Workshop (ECRW) offers the unique opportunity to present your data as a short talk (10+5 min) in a free and relaxed atmosphere. Special emphasis is laid on an intense discussion between all participants.

When does the ECRW take place?

The workshop will be held on Saturday, 30 August 2026 at 73rd International Congress and Annual Meeting of the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research (GA), Naples, Italy. It will start at 9:00 a.m. for approximately 6 hours.

Who can submit an abstract?

Ph.D. students and early-stage post-docs (only within their first year) are invited to submit an abstract for a short talk. Only high-quality abstracts can be considered. The ECRW jury will review the abstracts and decide whether a short talk will be granted or not. We encourage all eligible early-career researchers to submit their best work for consideration. This is an excellent opportunity to present your research to peers and established scientists in the field.

What happens during the ECRW?

The Early Career Researcher Workshop (ECRW) will commence with a welcome note, followed by an inspiring keynote lecture from an established scientist. This distinguished speaker will provide valuable insights into their research area and offer guidance on initiating and advancing a scientific career. The core of the workshop will feature a series of short presentations by early career researchers. After the event, the ECRW jury will select and honor the two best presentations, awarding prizes to the recipients during the conference.

What do the prizes include?

The two most outstanding presentations will receive awards in two categories and a cash prize.

Registration for the various workshops
will open next February.
